One of my pet peeves is to be in the middle of a nice hot shower then reaching for the soap and finding…nothing. My choices then became to try and salvage the little slivers of soap clustered around the drain or make a dripping dash across the room to get a new bar of soap from under the sink. Neither choice has ever been something I’ve been happy with.
Long ago, I realized that I was going to have to contact the Soap Fairy. (She’s the second cousin, once removed of the Tooth Fairy on her mother’s side) Somebody had to be responsible for making sure that soap was always in the shower and I knew it wasn’t ever going to be the only person that I share the shower with
The Soap Fairy is very diligent about making sure that we always have soap. She’s even thoughtful enough to ensure that
somebody’s favorite soap is always in stock. (Somebody happens to be very particular about what soap and toothpaste he will use. I have no idea why…I’m all for whatever is on sale. As they say, “pick your battles”)
The other day, Shaun was taking his shower when all of a sudden his obnoxious, off-tune singing abruptly changed into a panicky bellow. “Something’s wrong!” he howled, “it’s stinging me!” Alarmed, I rushed to see what the problem was.
It seems that the Soap Fairy had decided that after years of picking up the same old soap slivers and replacing them with a fresh bar, she had decided to use the soap of her choice. This just happened to be a bar of
orange-peppermint soap that I had made with the help of my blog buddy Stephanie (I just realized I never blogged about the very fun day!) I’d been using this soap regularly (in fact it’s almost all gone…she needs to hurry and get soap in her Etsy shop!) so I knew about the effect of peppermint oil on…shall we say…sensitive areas of the body. I assured my husband that he nothing was going to fall off and that he just needed to keep rinsing.
Is it bad that I was secretly cheering on the Soap Fairy’s unintended attack of the lazy soap replacer? Nah…I didn’t think so….
Nippy soap! I love it! It won’t go missing in a hurry then!
I wish I could do that to TP. SINCE I’M THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN CHANGE IT.
Too funny! I’m with you on the getting out of the shower to get something. It stinks! I hate when my facewash gets taken out of the shower.
Love the pumpkin header!
Too funny.. peppermint man bits!
Not much gets me out of the shower once I’m already dripping wet. I’d just use the shampoo.
Go Soap Fairy! Now – get drunk this weekend and write in my comments! Heck, you deserve a lost weekend!
I just love that tingly feeling from homemade peppermint soap! What a wake-up call. Tell Shaun to just suck it up and go with it. Hey, you really should have blogged about such a great experience as making homemade soap. We’ve done that once before and I always mean to do it again. We have all the ingredients ….
He’s never going to trust the soap fairy again.
LOL nothing like the nip of peppermint to perk one up! I usually run across the floor soaking wet….then slip and fall on the way back. Not a pretty sight.
I’m guessing the experience woke him up thoroughly.
I would never have to worry about that happening to me because I refuse to share soap with anyone.
Love DH using the peppermint soap!!!
lol! I love it. Once my husband used mango kiwi scented soap for two weeks because he was too lazy to open a bar of his green stinky soap and put it in the shower.
Peppermint orange… I bet that smells fantastic!
Your homemade soap looks yummy! 🙂 When I run out of soap in the shower I just use shampoo. 🙂
I figure that there is nothing decent that I can think of to say in this comment section, But, I almost fell out of my chair laughing, and laughing…my side hurts. Hahaha Mom
The soap fairy no longer exists in our house, she disappeared at about the same time as the twins appeared. So did the toilet paper fairy. Coincidence? Ha.
Hahaha! Too funny!
I didn’t know that about peppermint oil! Just another reason for my hubby to not like peppermint (that and the drunken night on peppermint schnapps). I love herbal soaps and that one sounds wonderful.
some of those home made soaps are so smooth and lush.
I bought some made with olive oil down in northern California… and it was the best.
I am so laughing having used mint soap and know exactly the sensation….you should of told your husband to relax and go with it!
Just use shampoo if you run out of soap, works in a pinch and better than slipping on the tile getting out to get a bar of soap.
When you talk to the soap fairy, ask her where the toilet paper fairy is!!! I enjoyed reading your blog.
So funny!
Better that I don’t say what I was thinking!
That is so funny. I made peppermint soap (and I like it) once and my husband wasn’t fond of it either;-).
