Snow Isn't For Wimps

A week or so ago, my blog started to snow.   I simply had to smile at all the people that were charmed by it, and wanted to know how they could get snow for their blogs too.  Now, I would love to be able to share my wonderful secret to bloggy snow,  but I have to confess that I had nothing to do with it… (I will take credit for changing the template to it’s current  garish template.  I’d even add glitter to it if I could! Christmas is a wonderful excuse for all things gaudy and tacky.)

This is much like the snow that started floating down from the sky above our home last night.   I had nothing to do with it and could only hope that it wouldn’t stay for long. (Yes, I realize I’m pretty much the only one around here that feels that way.)

I’ve mentioned a time or two about what a Weather Wimp I am.  I can’t help it, I grew up in Sunny San Diego where you have to drive a long, long, long way to find snow.   I have, however, tried (at least a little bit) to hide it from the kids so as not to pass my wimpiness on to them.

For the most part I have succeeded in this endeavor.  Actually, I’ve probably succeeded just a little too well.  The girls take great delight in laughing at my wimpy, whining ways as they bundle up and head out to play in the frozen snow.

There does seem to be one member of our family that I have corrupted though.  That would be our little dog, Penny.  (Technically she’s not really little, she just a bit smaller than our big dog)   When we let Penny outside to do her business, she came back inside in record time.   About half an hour later she was crying to go back outside again.  So, muttering bad words at her, I let her out again.  I had barely moved away from the door when she was scratching to come back in.  Puzzled at her behavior, I let her back in, muttering the entire time.

Shortly after that, Penny was once again crying to go outside.  I tried my best to ignore her and get her to settle down, but she wouldn’t.  It finally occurred to me that she was scared of the snow.  Half-jokingly, I asked KT to take the dog outside and stay with her to let her know that she was safe.  KT just laughed at me, then good-heartedly but on her boots and heavy jacket and took Penny outside.  All she needed was a guardian out in that nasty snow.

According to all the weather forecasts ,we are in for some of the coldest weather in nearly twenty years.  Penny and I are not happy about that.  In fact, we’ve decided that we are going to move to Tahiti where it never snows.  It wouldn’t even occur to the Tahitians that we were Weather Wimps.

All we have to do is figure out how to travel the sheet of ice in front of my house to get to the airport….
